        Some AIADMK leaders today laid siege to the Pattinapakkam police station to protest against the preventive arrest of its party cadres in the backdrop of the State government's one-day token fast being held over the Sethu Samudaram project.

        AIADMK MP Maithreyan, MLA Kalairajan along with party cadres laid siege to urge the police to release the arrested party cadres. Following this about 20 party cadres were released.

        Meanwhile, drivers and conductors belonging to the AIADMK trade unions at Basin Bridge, Pallavan House and Saidapet raised slogans after their demand of operating bus services went in vain.
